{TEN THINGS...} //...I believe about coaching 💛
•
.) Often times it feels worse before it feels better.
.) Coaching is kind of *is* a one-sided relationship, and that’s ok; this may be one of the only relationships in your life where you aren’t expected to ask the other how they are…and that can be both weird and freeing.
.) The results of talking with a coach usually aren’t immediate; that’s tough, since we are hard-wired to crave immediate gratification for our investments. However, the benefits we receive through our commitment overtime are immeasurable.
.) I’m a coach because I’m on this path of healing and wellness, too; coaches have coaches!
.) You’ve got to show up for it to work. Coaching is a ritual, and consistency is key- even when you don’t think you have anything to talk about or you don’t want to go: resistance is often a sign that a breakthrough is on the horizon!
.) I don’t give advice, and I don’t have the answers. I carve out a path for you to find your way back to your inner truth, and create space for you to tune into your own wisdom.
.) On a related note, I don’t know what “health” or “wellness” look like for you, and I don’t have an agenda for your work. My goal is to explore these concepts together and help you define and create your ideal life.
.) Don’t like something I said? Angry at something that happened between us in session or otherwise? Tell me! I *want* you to talk about how our relationship impacts you; most of us never learned how to intentionally and lovingly repair conflicts, and I want our relationship to be a place where safe rupture is possible.
.) Insights and explanations are interesting and can be helpful, but I believe it’s developing the capacity to hold our emotional experience in equanimity and be witnessed in all of our messy humanness that truly heals.
.) I’m constantly moved and inspired by the courageous vulnerability that my clients share in the room with me.
